According to the World Health Organization, more than 20 million low-birth weight preterm babies are born annually around the world. Tragically, more than 4 million of these babies die within a month of being born. All it requires to avoid most of these deaths is to keep the preterm infants warm.

A baby’s body temperature drops as soon as it is outside the controlled environment of the mother’s womb. Premature babies have very little body fat. Unable to regulate their body temperature, they die.

PHOTOTHERAPY AND JAUNDICE MANAGEMENT

Brilliance Pro

Three out of five children have jaundice to some degree. In approximately 18% of these babies, the condition is severe and requires treatment. Severe jaundice, when left untreated or ineffectively treated, can lead to severe brain damage, a condition called kernicterus, or death. This can be averted simply by reducing the serum bilirubin through phototherapy.

The Brilliance Pro is designed for providing phototherapy in the NICU. It can be used along with other critical medical equipment such as infant warmers and incubators. It is compatible with most bassinets.

A full 60% of the infants born after 28 weeks of pregnancy or less are prone to respiratory distress syndrome (RDS). The lungs of these infants are underdeveloped, and the required gas exchange cannot take place. Hence their breathing needs external support.

NCPAP 300 is a simple continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) system designed to provide support to fragile infants suffering from RDS. NCPAP 300 prevents airway closure and maintains the functional residual capacity. It has been ergonomically designed and is remarkably easy to operate.

Labour Delivery Recovery Bed

The LDR 100 from Phoenix has been designed to provide comfort and safety to the mother during the crucial time of child birth. The LDR 100 is a highly flexible examination couch that is readily converted into a bed.

It is designed for all stages of labour, delivery and recovery.

Infant Bassinets

Phoenix infant bassinets are comfortable and safe places for babies.

The trendy single-moulded bassinets are well suited for all hospitals, NICUs and labour rooms. They are provided with smooth castors for mobility. The bassinets can be locked in position using foot-operated brakes on the castors.

Phoenix bassinets are compatible with phototherapy equipment, warmers and other equipment. Thus unnecessary shifting of babies is avoided.

BAS 101 has a side opening that allows the mother and infant to be close to each other. This bassinet also features a swivelling utility tray.

Electronic Baby Weighing Scale

The BWS weighing scale from Phoenix is used by the care giver to track a baby’s growth. Some premature babies weigh as little as 10 grams into 600 grams. The BWS can measure the weight of even such tiny babies.

The BWS has a length of 20 inches. Constructed of transparent acrylic, it can be cleaned easily.

The BWS can be used to follow the growth of a baby up to a weight of 10 kilograms.
